Lot Guides · Side by side
Windshield banner or QR code? Usually both.
A windshield banner tells someone a few cars away what the car is. A QR code opens the car’s page for someone standing at the door. They do different jobs, which is why the ShortCut Pack pairs them.

Side by side
Two pieces, two readers
| Windshield banner | QR code (the ShortCut) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it carries | The year, the model and a line of facts, or the month’s event | A link to the car’s page on your website, with a short link beside it |
| Who reads it | Someone walking the aisle, a few cars away | Someone standing at the car with a phone |
| Where it goes | Along the top of the windshield, passenger side | The lower rear corner of the front door glass |
| Printed size of real jobs | Flyouts about 18 × 7 to 38 × 7 in | QR marks about 3.5 × 6.7 in |
| What it can’t do | Hold the options, the photos and the history | Be read from the aisle |

Each one at work

When one is enough
A banner on its own suits a car whose story fits in three or four words and a line of facts. A QR placard on its own suits a message that points to the whole inventory, like Suntrup’s “Don’t see what you’re looking for? Scan here.”
When it’s both
The ShortCut Pack is a strip along the top of the windshield plus a QR graphic on another window, one pack per car. How the ShortCut works has the rest.
Questions
About banners and QR codes
Is a QR code on a car’s glass new to shoppers?
No. The federal fuel-economy label has carried a QR code since its 2012 redesign.
Why print a short link next to the code?
Older Census respondents were likelier to type the address than to scan, so every QR graphic we print carries a short link beside the code.
What should the banner say if the QR carries the detail?
The year and the model, with one line of facts under them. The options, the photos and the history go behind the QR.
